  • Dog turned rock-solid in tar drum rescued

A street dog in Udaipur, India, was found trapped in a drum of tar where we believe she had stuck and completely unable to move for several days. Animal Aid Unlimited's rescue team found the sweet dog hyperventilating and terrified, trapped chest-deep in tar inside the drum. We think she may have gone inside the drum to get warm during the night, and that her own body heat started to melt the tar which she then sank into and was unable to free herself from. When we found her she was no longer struggling and seemed to have completely given up all hope. Watch her amazing rescue and recovery at Animal Aid Unlimited! • Indian ocean Footage (MH370 Search & Rescue Team)

How difficult is it to find a commercial plane in the middle of an ocean? That question has come up many times within the last two weeks as crews painstakingly search for Malaysia Flight 370 in the Indian Ocean. The southern corridor of the Indian Ocean, where officials now believe the plane went down, ranges in depth from 3,770 feet to 23,000 feet. At its greatest depth, that's almost equal to the height of Mount Everest (which measures 29,029 feet tall). In our chart, we compared the tail height of a Boeing 777, which is just 60 feet tall, to the height of some of our globe's most recognizable structures--and as you can see: finding a plane that is 60 feet in height is quite literally like trying to find a needle in a haystack.

Foreign office minister V.K. Singh returned to a hero's welcome on Friday, having joined several Air India flights into the Yemeni capital Sanaa to evacuate people from the conflict there to Djibouti. "The bombings are still on," the former army chief of staff told reporters at Delhi airport. "There was trouble in evacuating them, yet we did our task." Along with some 4,600 Indians, Singh's mission rescued citizens of Britain, France and the United States, a symbolic step in a country sensitive about its reliance on foreign aid in the decades following independence in 1947. Indian media and government officials this week gleefully circulated a screenshot of CNN anchor Wolf Blitzer talking about India's rescue of U.S. citizens. The evacuation from Yemen also provided a rare chance for arch-rivals India and Pakistan to look beyond hostilities, as 11 Indians were evacuated by the Pakistani navy and flown home, winning a vote of thanks from Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Three Pakistanis also made it out on Indian transport. The Ministry of External Affairs said India had now ended the rescue effort. It will close its embassy in Sanaa, where Saudi Arabia has launched air strikes against Iranian-allied Houthi rebels. The approximately 18-inch long snake was found in poor condition, dehydrated, cold and exposed to oil residue in one of the cargo holds of the MV Maersk Sana. The cobra, which is an endangered species, was taken to the Bronx Zoo where it was treated by the zoo’s team of herpetologists and veterinarians. It was held in quarantine and cared for at the zoo, but died on December 22. A necropsy conducted at the Wildlife Conservation Society’s Bronx Zoo Wildlife Health Center revealed that the snake was very thin with no fat reserves. It also had no food in its stomach, indicating that while at sea it failed to eat. WCS saves wildlife and wild places worldwide through science, conservation action, education, and inspiring people to value nature. To achieve our mission, WCS, based at the Bronx Zoo, harnesses the power of its Global Conservation Program in nearly 60 nations and in all the world’s oceans and its five wildlife parks in New York City, visited by 4 million people annually. Ever wondered what happens when a Trains Locomotive fails in the middle of its Journey and the train is left stranded ? Enjoy watching this special Compilation of various such instances where a Rescue Loco hauls the train along with the failed Locomotive in Trail to continue to rest of the journey. Locomotives hauling Trains usually follow a Roster as to how many trips or cycles they are suppose to work and after completion the Locomotives return to their Home Shed for check ups , maintenance and minor repairs. At times the Locomotives fail unexpectedly. The Loco Pilots are given enough Training to Troubleshoot basic Problems in such events when all attempts are unsuccessful the Loco Pilots inform to the nearest Station Master from where a Rescue Locomotive is arranged. In most cases the Locomotives don't abruptly fail how ever when the Loco Pilots sense some abnormalities or some sort of a snag they stop the train at the immediate station in order to keep the main line free from blocking the traffic. The wait for a rescue Locomotives may take several hours depending on the place of break down and the distance to the close by station where spare Locomotives are available. If its a remote location then the wait may get really long and in worst case scenario a freight train gets suspended from Operations and the Loco of a Freight train is pressed to rescue the Train as Passenger Trains have higher Priority than Freight Trains. In this video you will see the Loco behind has either failed or is being carried dead after a failure and the Loco in lead is the one come for rescue. Hope you enjoy the Rescue mission ! Indian Navy helicopter practices for rescue flight off in Andaman and Nicobar island. The Andaman and Nicobar Command is the only Tri-service theater command of the Indian Armed Forces, based at Port Blair in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, a Union Territory of India. It was created in 2001 to safeguard India's strategic interests in Southeast Asia and the Strait of Malacca by increasing rapid deployment of military assets in the region. As of 2014, the command includes 15 ships of the Indian Navy, two Navy Sea bases, four Air Force and Naval Air bases and two Army brigades. The Andaman and Nicobar Command is India’s first and only joint tri-service command,[6] with rotating three-star Commanders-in-Chief from the Army, Navy and Air Force reporting directly to the Chairman of the Chiefs of Staff Committee. Please watch: "Most precious gift on 12 Rabi-ul-Awwal " https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=atq_zpdwU6c -~-~~-~~~-~~-~- Evacuation of 11 Indian nationals by Pakistani navy follows rescue of three Pakistanis by India from war-torn country. Eleven Indian nationals have returned to New Delhi from Yemen after being evacuated by the Pakistani navy. The evacuees on Wednesday thanked the government of Pakistan for its assistance and joined at least 4,000 other Indians evacuated from Yemen by India over the past week. Three Pakistani nationals were earlier transferred from Al-Hodeidah to Djibouti by the Indian navy as part of its evacuation operations. The two countries' humanitarian moves come on the sidelines of an escalating conflict in Yemen. Abdul Basit, Pakistan's ambassador to India, said the cooperation will play a significant role in normalising relations between the two countries. For his part, VK Singh, India's junior foreign affairs minister, says the situation in Yemen, especially the southern part, which is the last major foothold of President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi, is becoming worse. We have more fighting in Aden. And that is why one of our ships could not dock at that time and we had to move people by smaller ports," he said. Fighting has increased in Aden between the Houthi fighters and their allies and local groups loyal to Hadi, while a Saudi-led coalition has intensified air strikes and bombardment of the southern coastal city. Many of the Indian evacuees are from the southern state of Kerala, where they continue to experience the indirect effects of the Yemen conflict. Evacuees in Kochi, speaking to Al Jazeera, said they depend on the income they receive in Yemen. They would like to return to Yemen and expressed hopes about a speedy end to the conflict. Asok Kumar, one evacuee, told Al Jazeera the Houthis had not caused any problems for them. "They are very good to us. Houthis are not any problems for Indians. They are very good [towards] Indians. But we afraid there will be no government tomorrow - after the war. There is nothing. You cannot go and complain about anything when they engage in looting." However, analysts say that they conflict is not likely to end soon.
